I just discovered this site and am anxious to reconnect.  Does anybody remember Lt Dan Starnes?  We were fellow platoon leaders with the 1st of the 2nd.  Time frame April 67 to April 68.  Initially stationed in Phuoc Vinh and then Quon Loi.  He was KIA on one of our frequent search & destroys. I can't remember which company we were in, so I'm counting on somebody out there to bring me up to speed.  Regards

Denny, I too would like to welcome you to this site. I don't post much but read other brothers comments about every day. WELCOME HOME. I too served with the 1/2 and am very proud of the unit. If there is any way I think you would enjoy the reunion in Pigeon Forge.

The Wall directory shows Dan Clifton Starns 1LT (no "E") KIA 17 July 1967.

None of the 3 BRO Yearbook volumes lists him as KIA. This is either a date entry error, or he was assigned to a unit outside division, and attached to division.

I hope this helps.

1st LT Dan C. Starns Jr. was KIA on 18 July 1967.  He was with Company B, 1st BN, 2nd INF.  He was from Fort Worth, Texas.  His name is on panel 23E line 89.

He is listed in the First Infantry Division In Viet Nam Book the new edition that came out several years ago. And he his listed as Second Lt. Starns, Dan C. Jr. but of course it does not list him as KIA but he is listed as deceased.
Of course I have not checked the Wall on how they have him listed.  I guess some of you have already checked the Wall listing.
I hope this helps.  If I should find out anything more i will post.

harold my man, still a little chilly out here in the great state of Utah but if you ever decide to ride out this way your more than welcome to spend a few nights with me in the joint.

You most likely have plenty of "guard rewards points" built up after your long career as a hack, but I'd be more than happy to give you a free tour of the license plate pressing room where I'm known as one of the best.

Denny, welcome home and to the board, I would like to warn you however about a few of the Dudes that post here. First keep an eye on Juan aka The Saint, he's hard of hearing in his right ear so always type with your left hand when posting to him so he can hear you better.

For sure watch out for The Duck, J. Kerins Mike O, and one harold defibaugh these unsavory charterer's will for ever be testing you to see if your right or left handed in political  persuasions.

Oh, incase you wondering the only two real sane people that post here is myself and BCC (please don't say I said so but some times I'm not so sure about BCC).

Just in case your wondering my Moniker is Mr. Goodaim, but you can call me by Ass Shooter if you so desire (long story).

Its also my responsibility to mention to you that most people that join this forum generally like to send me a few doubloon's to help life go by just a little easier here in the joint (witness protection program, you know). Pocket lint is also acceptable as I served with Recon 1/2 67-68 and am still worn out from that experience.

Onece again welcome home and to the board have fun because you have just found a buch of guys that have been there done that.

Goodaim neglected to mention that when you send the doubloons, they should be sent care of my address, BCC, God's Country, New Hampshire (I repeat myself). Sanity has its own rewards.

I might also mention saffron futures. Goodaim can fill you in.

Denny, you need to be careful with Mr. Goodaim, he will try to sale you this board for $1.33. Now yes when you write to me do it with your right hand because I am on the right side of the track, he is on the left track the one that is going to be dismantle  in about 3 years, if you get my drift.....

Welcome Home Denny, hope you make the reunion at Pigeon Forge,TN in May.

Hi Harold, that is great that you got out.  I got out today. Sure felt good.  they are having a gun show here next week I think and they are having the boat and travel show this week in T-Town.
About a week ago a biker and his chick were on their way to a biker bar that we hang out at. He was on his bike.  Well, two guys in a pickup were drunk and i guess they dont like bikers so they pull along side of this biker and started to give him some bad lip.  So they followed him to the bar and jumped out of the truck and started to beat the crap out of the biker the biker pulled out his concealed weapon and blew one of them away the guy died right there.  The cops shows up arrest the other drunken guy and the biker.  then after the cops got all of the witness stories they let the biker go.  He had a permit to carry a conceal weapon.  Case closed.
They said it was a hate crime.  You would be surprised on how many people that hate bikers. So from now on we have to really watch our backs.
