Thanks All, Glad to be home. I am also an active member of the VHPA  and the 162nd AHC as I was a pilot my second tour. There is a history between the 162nd and the 2/2 in the days before Mech in Phuch Vin (sp).

They have a great website with photos and history at
http://www.162ahc.com/

Was turned on to this site a few days ago.  Would like to hear from anyone who remembers me or who might have served with me. I remember a few names and have tried over the years to connect with mostly a lack of success.

I'll try and check this site daily

I was in country in June of 1969, not sure of the date assigned to Alpha 2/2.  I was originally assigned to the 1/28 but before I was trucked over I was reassigned to 2/2 after the Black Virgin Mtn battle.  I was in the 4th platoon grunting until Thunder III then I took over the 3rd platoon's 50.

Welcome home Bruce,  I was in A 2/2 but was medivac in March before you got there.  There are a few guys on this site that were there the same time as you, you'll hear from them soon.  We have a reunion coming up in May, if you go you may run into a few folks there.  Once again Welcome Home.

We have a reunion in May 15-16-17 at Pigeon Forge, TN- if you come maybe you might find some of your friends.

Thanks Broz and The Saint.  Don't think I can make the reunion in May.  I live in MT and have a meeting in Kansas the first part of June.  Kansas may take my available time and money.

Heh; anybody out there who might remember me, my name is Gene Daniels and I was with D1/2 with Lima Platoon to start with in April 68--wounded and was put in he mortar platoon when I got back. Was squad leader on #1 gun from Nov68 til April 69. Didn't know this board existed until today 3-8-09. Was in Pigeon Forge the year before and plan on attending in May of this year. Any ole Black Scarves out there want to say Heh,my email is on file. Glad to know this is here , so leave a message or email me. I met some of my buddies in 07 while in Pigon Forge and look forward to it this year. I especially want to hear from Juan Santiago who took me under his wing in Tn; but would like to hear from anyone who might remember me. I'm from Iowa and always got alot of sh** about that, but what can I say.

I check the board often.I just don,t post much. But I do like reading what everyone has to say. Some times it's refreshing, other times I need higher boots. My biggest problem is trying to figure out who is who when they just don't use there name but use a short cut. But something is better than nothing.

As Jaun said I went with the unit on the tug boat.I was with the unit 64-66
For some reason we don't have to many of us around. If there is they don't seem to make it to the Reunions. But just the same I enjoy seeing all that make it regardless of what year. The main thing is we were all Brothers in the same cause.

Hi Charles Coon, Welcome Home Brother. I was in Delta Company Black Scarf Bn. 1/2 June Of 67- June of 68.  did you go over on the Ship USNS Geiger with us out of Port Tacoma, Wahington June 28, 67' well around June 28th.  I was an RTO in Delta Company until I joined up with the crazy bunch of Recon.29er Platoon, as an RTO and then graduated to being Point Man. It was after The Battle Of Hill 172, Dec. 8th 1967.
My good buddy Roy D. Marshall was in Delta until he was transferred to Bravo 1/2.
Welcome to the Board Brother.
Best Regards, Luther Patton

Broz, Dave Row and I supervised, that was a bad trip--Spam and powder eggs for all 3 meals every day for 21 days.
, we got caught in a Typhoon and rode it for 3 days- lost a boiler and one member of the crew  died and they put him in a freezer in the galley. Land at Vung-Tau--then the rest is history.
