Hello Ramrod's, checking in from sunny So. California, we could still use some rain if anyone's got some to spare, households are putting in artificial turf for lawns just to conserve on water usage, good day on the beach though, surf's up!!! MO

Staying low for a while since I broke my wrist and had to have surgery. Go back to Va. the end of the week and have stitches removed then maybe they will let me drive and I can get out and about. Missing my rabbit hunting. Looking forward the the reunion in May. Come on 1/2 lets make this a good one by out numbering the 2/2 guy. God bless.

Hi Guys... James Hale checking in. I just found this site so I am new at this.
I served with Alpha Co. 2nd/2nd as a driver from May 1969 to March 1970, when we turned over all our ordinance to the ARVN. I live in York County, Pa. in an area we call the river hills, since we are close to the Susquehanna River. I am about 12 miles from the Mason-Dixon Line. It appears I have a fellow RamRod, Ron Fichtner living about 28 miles from me on the other side of the river. I will admit that my memory on Vietnam is a little vague as I haven't talked to anyone about it in a long time. Does anyone have a list of the troops of Alpha Co.in 1969 and 1970 along with their platoon and squad position? Also, a list of the wounded from the Black Virgin Mountain. My wife and I would like to make the reunion. I am retired now and have the time to do things I couldnt do before. It is really good to have found you guys and I will check into the website to see whats happening.

WELCOME HOME BROTHER, YES IT IS A MUST THAT YOU ATTEND THE REUNION, ATTENDED MY FIRST LAST YEAR AND HAD A BALL THERE, THERE IS LOTS OF READING HERE,
I LEFT COUNTRY JUST AS YOU ARRIVED ATTACHED IS A LIST OF THE GUYS FROM OUR UNIT , I WAS IN THE 1ST PLATOON CO, A MAY 68 TO MAY 69
2/2 NAMES Bondsteel, James MEDAL OF HONOR FOR THAT BATTLE AT THE BLACK VIRGIN MTN
BE SAFE AND SEE YA IN MAY

Bondsteel received the MoH for An Loc I, Hwy 13, 24 May 1969, not the Black Virgin. It was the last Medal of Honor presented by Nixon. He retired from the army but was killed in a traffic accident on the Kniec River Bridge in Alaska in April, 1987. (A logging truck lost its load as they passed in opposite directions.
In case James was gone by then, Alpha Cpt Robert Waldren was killed on 15 March 70 when a pile of trash containing ordnance exploded. He saw the ordnance, yelled "fire in the hole" (so I was told back then) and dove on it to shield others. I believe he was the last BRO killed in Viet Nam.

BCC I was CP. Waldens driver and with him when that happened When he left the field he was still alive and we hoped he would make it .He was really well liked and we were very upset .I believe he was our last casualty

I use a 17 REM, 223,and a 22-250 the most and some time. Coyotes are really thick but most of the land around here is leased out to rich hunters from out of state. Very few farmers will let anybody on there land can`t blame them tho with all the law suits for injuries any more. If a farmer calls me that is having trouble with them, that is about the only time I get to go. I hope you have better luck on finding a place to hunt.
I think of you guys often.

kentucker, I have bolt actions, larger calibers and am contemplating the purchase of the AR-15/ M4type probably in .223/5.56 wylde because, I have about a 1000 rounds of brass and all loaded... There is so much to choose, caliber, length & configuration, sight option, rails and prices from $500 to $5000 with options... Do you own any AR type and or advice???

RON ZIEGLER: My Son and I shoot AR`s quite a bit now both hd`s and sporters. Only real advice I can give you is get the best you can afford both gun and scope We have several and am using them more all the time but I still have a soft spot for a good bolt gun. But like I said we are using a AR more and more send me an e-mail and I will give all the info I have on what my Son and I use.
