Welcome home Edward.... I joined Bravo 1/2 about a month before you left... If you wish I may be able to put you in touch with some of your buddies from your time frame... It would help to know what platoon you were with ?

Feel free to send me a email and we'll see what we can find...

Hi Ed,

I don't know if you remember me but I remember you. I especially remember my getting back from R & R in Sydney and returning to Tan San Nuit and running in to you and Sgt Sparks.  Do you remember him selling the camera that I had borrowed for my trip.  I was wounded on 11 Sept 68 in Loch Ninh.  Tont Fennich was my platoon sgt.

Hi Ed,

I'm glad you remember me.  I am originally from NYC.  Tony Fennich was from Michigan. I didn't realize you spent that much more time in the service. How long did you remain in the service?  I'm on 60% disability.  They never removed much of the large pieces of schrapnel.  I was in November platoon, when you knew me and switched over to Lima in the early part of 1969.

Cecil glad you made it back home. I just read your message about May 11, 68, at Song Be. I was in B Co at that time and I remember being at Song Be but not sure it was May 68. I was in the artillery forward observer section, headquarters platoon. Do you know who the CO was? What happened that got Ed the DSC? There are blanks Iwould like to fill in.

I have to mention that 1 more medal was given out, the bronze star to the M-60 gunner (Gorden Kurrila) for keeping the gooks head while Ed went foward and took the bunker a memory forever stilled in my mind.

i was there at song bey with you when won your dsc. at that time myself gill and fields were the only black guys in the platoon. i had been in country only a few weeks and that was my first enemy contact. it was that day when i realized what it feels like to experience fear from head to toe. kurilla burned up his machinegun that day keeping the gooks pinnned down while you attacked the bunker with hand grenades, that was a heroic action action i'll never forget. my last day of action in country was also at song bey when i won a silver star. i'll never ever forget sgt buggy, wasn't he a womderful human being

Hi y’all,

I was in November Platoon, B 1/2 from July 1968 to about March 1969 as a Sergeant E-5 when Sergeant Sparks was the Platoon Sergeant. Hey, Sgt. Sparks, if you’re out there some where I finally got my Sh_t together, although being 74 I sometimes forget where I put it! Later, after Tony Fennich rotated out I was the Platoon Sergeant.

‘Butch’ Abel, of course I remember you. Vernon Bowles ... definitely. And, also, Ron Lipp, ‘Tex’ Brown, and othhers. And of course, our great Cambodian Scouts: Chau Asnarit, Chau Kon, and Chau Neim.

if anyone has a contact for the B 1/2 Clerk, Sp4 Jim Burch, I ‘d appreciate hearing about it, too. Thanks!

Over 50 years, guys!
