New postPosted: Sun Jul 23, 2006 7:02 pm    Post subject: Trying to locate friends of my dad's....Vietnam 1967-1968 Reply with quote

Hi Everyone - My dad was in Vietnam in 1967 - 1968. He was part of the Company B 2d Battalion (Mechanized) 2d Infantry, or at least that's what it says on a paper that I have. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone recognizes the name Doug Pollard from Ventura California? I know there were a lot of people in the war, but I thought I'd try this message board to see if I can find someone that knew him personally. I think it might be good for him to meet up with someone he was in the war with as he's just recently coming to terms with some issues he's carried all these years. He talks about a guy they used to call "Indian" that was a good friend...but he didn't make it back.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

I was in the mortar platoon from Feb 68 to Feb 69. I remember the day that Capt Burke's track was taken out with a command detonated mine as we headed out of Song Be for Highway 13. I think it was the 4th of July.

This is for Chariti.  Your Dad and I were in the same squad on Track 221.  Have Doug E-Mail me.  It would be good to touch base with another Buddy.  I have some photo's that he's in.  He may not remember me but the names Sacckette and Taylor ought to bring back memories.
