Headed to Vietnam for the first time in 51 years. Going to Saigon, then Lai Khe, Ben Cat up to An Loc. Question: what was the name of the village where the Battle of Bandit Hill was fought? Am living in South Korea just now, but returning to the states in June.

Hello Mr. McLean- I just read in another part of this message board that the battle of Bandit Hill was near Tam Linh. SE of Lai khe. I was not there. My father was 1LT Richard "Dick" Morrissey. He was in Vietnam Aug 67-Aug 68. He led 3rd platoon/Bravo co 2/2 for some months and then was transferred sometime after Tet to be aide de camp to General Orwin Talbott for the final few months of his tour. I hope this location helps. I also found a map on another post if you would like it. My father recently passed away and I have been scouring this site for info on him or his unit every day. Thank you for your service.

Mr McLean- Here is the map I referred to above. I hope this link works. It was posted by Larry G (2/2 historian) in a 2014 thread. Hope it helps. https://d28lcup14p4e72.cloudfront.net/7203/1782821/Bandit_Hill_Location.jpg

A little late, but better late than never! Things in NJ are fine. Weather finally decent.ge Hope to see a bunch of you guys in Pigeon Forge in four weeks. There are a few bits of information to discuss. We are attempting to establish the active unit as the clear owner of the CSM Baton / RAMROD dating back to 1842. Still trying to bring younger blood into the group. We will have some of the active fellows at the reunion, always a good time around real soldiers! So IT'S NOT TOO LATE to sign up See you there, John

All is well here on Florida’s Suncoast. August 3rd marks 50 years ago I climbed aboard a big iron bird and sighed a sigh of relief as did all the others on board as those wheels lifted off. I just wish all those who gave their all could have shared a similar sigh. Terry Sage. B co and HHC recon 68 - 69

Checking in from nice, quiet, and dry New Jersey. I hope all you guys and your families have escaped, or will escape, all this Dorian crap. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this storm. Now! Happy anniversary to me! Fifty-two years ago today the readiness of our national defenses suffered a heavy, heavy blow. The Army took me in to care, feed, and try to make a man out of me. Like Meat Loaf says, "...two out of three ain't bad."
